Guniea Pigs in Love

I started this card back in February.  I can't recall what sketch it is, although I'm pretty sure the layout does come from a sketch challenge.

The stamps are from one of the adorable sets at  It's my first attempt at trying to color something in a calico fashion and I think it turned out all right!

I think I would've used a different pink for the two circles or the layering under the image as in the photo it washes out together, but in person there is a bit of a shadow.

Time to start thinking about some Halloween cards!

Adventures in the Kitchen

So, I am working on my culinary skills (currently consisting of toasting; microwaving; and sometimes even a little boiling) and figured this looked like an easy recipe to try:  Burrito Pie from  I made a few modifications to suit my tastes (I used ground turkey and took out the olives, green chili peppers, taco sauce and substituted a chopped up roma tomoato for the tomatoes with green chili peppers) and so far I think it's turned out all right.

The recipe says to saute the meat and after I lobbed the entire package of ground turkey into the pan I looked up what "saute" meant.  Then ran back to the stove, added a splash of oil and started breaking apart the meat.  So in hindsight, I would crumble the meat up as I put it into the pan instead of as one big hunk o' turkey.

I also looked up "minced" afterwards and realized I may need to keep an eye out for hunks of garlic...

I made it with the goal of reheating it, so haven't tried it with t…

Watch out, he spits!

This week I made another card.  It uses Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge 419 and Clean & Simple Challenge 203 (CAS).  The CAS challenge was a color challenge – lime green, red, brown and turquoise green.
As soon as I read the colors, I knew it'd be perfect for one of the Brentwood Caveman with Dinos collections from  I modified the sketch a little bit by cutting out the main image instead of leaving it rectangle.  I mounted Evee and her dilaphosaur on foam squares.
I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, but I think the dinosaur gets a little lost in the background pattern paper, so I think if I could go back, I would leave the image on the rectangle.
I also added a few more miles to the goal of walking 135 miles by April 30.  :)

Goal accomplished!

Well, part of it, anyway!  It runs the whole year, so there's more to be done.  This week, I made a card for the Clean and Simple challenge on Splitcoaststampers.  The challenge was Postage or Faux Postage technique.  I went with the Faux Postage technique.

I really like the way the postage looks, so I am thinking I will do this technique again.  I chose the Keep the Ocean Clean stamp set from  I colored it in with Copic markers, and practiced my shading.  As of this post, the stamp set is still available!

One of my other goals is to walk 135 miles by April 30th and I got on the board with that goal by getting in 2.13 miles this weekend.  Every little bit is a step closer!

New Year!

Happy 2013!

It is a new year and time for some changes.  I'm excited to have a few goals set for this year including to make at least 26 different cards (one every other week), walk 135 miles by April 30, and to create some items that were inspired by Pinterest.

The first item, inspired by Pinterest, is a shadow box to showcase movie tickets, or any kind of event ticket that you have attended.

You can find the pin I got the inspiration from here:

I'd love to see your version if you are inspired to make one! I've got more tickets to add and I think it is a great way to showcase and remember movies and events - time spent with friends and family.
